An Update With 10 Days To Go!
I want to apologise that I haven't been regularly updating my steps here on the page, but I want to assure everyone I've still been tracking them and I will update them tonight.I must admit there has been a LOT of rain where I live and one of my sensory issues is with rain so I have not been walking outside on the wet days. (Unless it's the walk to/from the ferry with an umbrella).
Some days I have not hit the 7k but now the sun has returned I am going to do my best to still hit my total (or as close to it) by the end of the month.
My total is 217000 ... so let's see how close I can get!
Thank you for your donations and support - it is truly appreciated
My personal why to sign up for the Walk for Autism this May.
This May, I’m taking part in Walk for Autism - which means I’ve committed to walking 7,000 steps every day for the month.
I’m doing it to support autistic Australians - and this one’s also pretty personal.
I was diagnosed as autistic, in December last year, at 41 years old, and it’s one of those things that quietly explains a lot. The overwhelm, the contradictions, the moments of “why does this feel harder than it should?” - it's all begun to make a bit more sense.
So this isn’t just about getting my steps in (although I’m sure there’ll be days where that’s a challenge in itself). It’s about awareness, acceptance, and supporting better services and understanding for autistic people—especially those who, like me, went a long time without answers.
I’m also doing it for younger Vic, who was doing her best without really knowing why things felt the way they did.
If you’d like to support me or the cause, I’d really appreciate it. And if not, that’s okay too, just being here and reading this already means a lot :)
