This May, I won’t be walking 7,000 steps a day, but reading 7,000 words in May!
For so many years, despite chronic ankle pain and injuries,I’ve stepped up to Walk for Autism.
This year, I’m recovering from extensive surgery on my ankle with the hope of one day participating again without severe pain and injury.
My commitment to supporting Autistic Aussies hasn’t wavered though, so I’m choosing to participate by READING 7,000 words in May instead!
Please show your support as I participate in my own unique way to support and raise funds for Autistic Australians and their families!
Did you know? Because the world is not autism-friendly, 70% of Autistic people in Australia experience mental health issues.
My son, Theo, is one of them - in just the last week he experienced a traumatic medical event and went missing for half an hour.
THAT’s why I'm reading 7,000 words in May to fundraise for Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia), because the world is big, bad and scary for someone who needs help just to navigate the everyday challenges it presents, let alone the complicated ones involved in health care, safety, and promoting the same well-being that non-Autistic people have the privilege of experiencing every day.
This is why your support matters, whether it’s emotional, financial or chocolate based 🤣
All donations will help deliver services that support Autistic people to live their best life.
Funds raised can help Autistic people and their families access earlier diagnosis, provide autism-specific schooling for children on the autism spectrum, support research and help create inclusive, autism-friendly environments.
Please support my month of READING for Autism and donate now. Thank you so much!
