Creedence walk with autism

This is our son, Creedence.

At just 3 years old, Creedence was diagnosed with Level 2 Autism spectrum disorder. Creedence was misdiagnosed and was Level 3 non verbal and also lives with an intellectual disability. His word is different to most and learning to understand that world has been a journey and challenge itself.

Communication doesn’t come with words for Creedence, it comes through his eyes, his emotions, the way he expresses himself and his energy he connects with us in his own ways that we have begun to understand.

There are hard days, days filled with overwhelm, exhaustion and challenges. However those days come with so much patient, laughter & unconditional love.

Creedence has taught us so many things

That the smallest wins are now the biggest when it comes to him and anything he does. How to understand without words and how to love beyond measures.

His diagnosis does not define his worth it does not limit the love he gives or the joy he brings into our lives.

This walk for Autism is more than just a walk for us. It’s a moment to stand proud for our son and any other child or person who has been diagnosed with autism. This walk is more than just raising awareness for our non verbal Autism and living with intellectual disability. We need to educate this world that we live in that every child deserves to be seen, heard and included.

Creedence has a voice however that just looks different. We are walking for understanding, we are walking for acceptance, inclusion & most importantly we walk for every family on the same journey as us.

But most importantly we walk for our Creedence. 🩵
