I'm walking 7k steps a day this May to support Autistic Australians
For the month of May I will walk a minimum of 7000 steps per day to support/fundraise for Aspect - Autism Spectrum Australia.
Did you know 70% of Autistic people in Australia experience mental health issues?
As a parent to a child with Autism I found getting a diagnosis, finding the right supports, seeking out an inclusive school and very kind and supportive friends has been pivotal for our family. It is not an easy Journey and the delays I experienced affected our whole family. There was periods I couldn’t work, my child couldn’t attend school and my child was suffering from related mental health issues and behaviour problems as a result of misdiagnosis and medical mismanagement. Organisations like this offer so much support and information to the families and children that need it most.
My goal is to raise $1000 to financially help a family with a diagnosis. This has been one of the biggest hurdles for my family with a late diagnosis and reports costing thousands of dollars. I believe that early access and intervention is so important for a child’s success.
That's why I'm walking 7k steps a day in May to fundraise for Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia).
Your donation will go towards helping deliver services that support Autistic people to live their best life.
Funds raised can help Autistic people and their families access earlier diagnosis, provide autism-specific schooling for children on the autism spectrum, support research and help create inclusive, autism-friendly environments.
Please support my Walk for Autism and donate to a great cause. Thank you so much!
