๐Ÿ’š DAY 19: GOAL ACHIEVEDโ€ฆ WITH 11 DAYS STILL TO GO ๐Ÿ’š

Weekend update: the step count definitely slowed down a littleโ€ฆ apparently even my legs wanted a weekend break ๐Ÿ˜Œ

BUT despite the slower pace, Iโ€™ve officially cracked my monthly goal of 217,000 steps in just 19 days, currently sitting at 217,560 steps with 11 whole days left in May.

Honestly, when I set this challenge, I thought the goal sounded ambitious. Now Iโ€™m wondering if I accidentally unlocked a personality trait where I physically cannot quit once emotionally invested.

But the biggest thing this month has reminded me of is how important awareness, understanding, and acceptance really are. Autism isnโ€™t always visible, and social situations or communication can feel very different for autistic people. Things many take for granted: noise, eye contact, conversations, busy environments, changes in routine can be overwhelming or exhausting.

Sometimes the greatest thing we can offer isnโ€™t โ€œfixingโ€ anythingโ€ฆ itโ€™s patience, inclusion, and creating spaces where autistic people feel safe to be fully themselves ๐Ÿ’š

This challenge has always been about more than numbers for me. Itโ€™s about advocacy. Itโ€™s about my ย son Oliver. Itโ€™s about helping create a world that understands neurodivergent people a little better than it did yesterday.

217,560 steps down.
11 days left.
Legs: deteriorating.
Commitment to the cause: unfortunately stronger than ever. ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you for every donation, share, message, and bit of support along the way. It genuinely means more than you know.

๐Ÿ“Š DAY 3 UPDATEโ€ฆ posted on Day 4 because apparently my step count wasnโ€™t the only thing moving slowly ๐Ÿ’š

Weekend recap: not exactly elite athlete behaviour. ย

Day 3 delivered a deeply underwhelming 5,251 stepsโ€ฆ and in my defence, spending 4 hours in the car to Toowoomba and back turns out to be absolutely terrible for the whole โ€œwalkingโ€ component of a walking challenge. Who knew? ย

Current 4-day total: 34,497 steps ย
Which meansโ€ฆ not disastrous, but also not giving โ€œfuture marathonerโ€ just yet. ย

Honestly, Iโ€™d love to blame the road trip entirely, but this is a self-inflicted challenge and accountability is character building ๐Ÿ˜Œ ย

So here we are: slow start, slight disappointment, but absolutely time to pick up the pace. The mission remains the same โ€” 7,000 steps a day for autism (with my overachieving brain still whispering 10,000). ย

New week. Less sitting. More stepping. Slightly more dignity. ย

Donate, share, and watch as I attempt to recover from my own mediocre weekend performance ๐Ÿ’š ย

๐Ÿšจ DAY ONE: WE ARE OFFICIALLY IN BUSINESS ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿšจ

May has arrived, the challenge has begun, and Iโ€™m already sitting at 2,000 steps before 8amโ€ฆ which honestly feels suspiciously productive for someone who usually considers finding matching socks an achievement. ย
Goal: 7,000 steps a day for autism ย
Overachiever fantasy: 10,000 steps ย
Current status: strong start, mildly smug, knees still cooperative. ย
31 days. Every step for autism. Every donation making a real difference for individuals and families who deserve greater support, understanding, and advocacy. ย
So if youโ€™ve been waiting to see whether I was actually seriousโ€ฆ unfortunately for me, I was ๐Ÿ˜Œ ย
Donate, share, and follow along as this month slowly transforms from confidence to pure stubbornness. ย
Day 1: we ride at dawn (apparently). ๐Ÿ’šย

Iโ€™m walking 7k steps a day this May to support Autistic Australians

Iโ€™ve stepped up to Walk for Autism. Please show your support as I walk my own brilliant way for Autistic Australians and their families!

Did you know? Because the world is not autism-friendly, 70% of Autistic people in Australia experience mental health challenges.

That's why I'm walking 7k steps a day in May to fundraise for Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia). Can you please support me?

Your donation will help deliver services that support Autistic people to live their best life.

Funds raised can help Autistic people and their families access earlier diagnosis, provide autism-specific schooling for children on the autism spectrum, support research and help create inclusive, autism-friendly environments.

Please support my Walk for Autism and donate now. Thank you so much!
