I’m walking 7k steps a day this May to support Autistic Australians
This May, I'm walking 7,000 steps every day for the people in my life who are autistic - the ones I love deeply, who navigate a world that wasn't built with them in mind, and who show up every single day with more strength and brilliance than most people will ever recognise.💞
I'm taking part in Walk for Autism, raising money and awareness for Autistic Australians and their families - and this cause is deeply personal to me.
Here's something that stopped me in my tracks when I first read it: because the world is not autism-friendly, 70% of Autistic people in Australia experience mental health challenges. Not because of who they are - but because of how little the world has made space for them. That's not okay.
Mental health is something I care about fiercely. The weight that comes from feeling like you don't fit, like you have to mask, like the environment around you is constantly working against you - that takes a real toll. Autistic people deserve so much better than that.
My hope is a world that is genuinely built for autistic and neurodivergent people. Not just "accommodating" them as an afterthought - but actually designed around the full, beautiful spectrum of human minds. That's the world I want for the people I love. That's the world I want, full stop.
The funds I raise go to Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia) and can help with earlier diagnosis, autism-specific schooling, vital research, and building truly inclusive environments where autistic people can live their best lives.
If you can donate — even a small amount — I would be so grateful. Every dollar counts, and every dollar says: we see you, we're with you, and we're working toward something better.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 💛
