I dream of a world where every mind is celebrated, embraced and encouraged; not boxed up and told to “be like everyone else.” 

I dream of a world that will see them as they are- just as capable, but also being aware that they fight a much harder fight than their peers. I anticipate for the day that their daily, debilitating, unseen, unheard and unknown battles are recognised as they are - internal wars being fought in the mind, as they struggle but also are demanded so much of but yet don’t feel seen or understood. 

I dream of a world where a neurodivergent mind can be supported and celebrated. Where equality isn't a riot or feud; because despite the fact it may look one way, doesn’t negate its debilitating effects and cause trauma. I dream of a world where regardless of what it may look like, that it is treated as a  disease that affects every part of the human experience- because it does and it is. 

I dream of a world where we wouldn’t speak to respond. But speak to listen. 

Maybe then, when we take time to understand, to not respond, but glean in with curiosity, we will appreciate how truly beautiful. Intricate, delicately designed and how soft-hearted  ASD minds can be. 

I wonder how your life may change if you decided to listen, decided to glean in, decided to see their purity and not expect so much or assume so much. Maybe, just maybe, you’d realise how beautifully intricate they are, how they have endless talents (that aren’t always easily boxed up), experience their loyal love and see past their exterior, that may look put together, but are really role playing until they can’t anymore- not because they choose this, but because society won’t always accept them as they are. 

This matters. All people deserve to experience equality, and maybe you can make some of these people to experience more equality and support as they navigate a world that doesn’t cater for their needs. 

To make change, people need to lead. Maybe this year, you’ll help lead change and provide equality for more people this year.
