I’m walking 7k steps a day this May to support Autistic Australians

This walk isn’t just something I signed up for—it’s something deeply personal to me. I’m walking for autism this May because I have a son who is on the spectrum, and it hits home in a way that only a parent can fully understand.

Autism isn’t just a word or a diagnosis in our household—it’s part of our everyday life. It’s in the little victories that others might overlook, like a new word spoken, a new routine handled, or a moment of connection that means everything. But it’s also in the challenges—the moments of frustration, the misunderstandings, and the constant need to advocate, support, and protect.

What I’ve learned through my son is that autism doesn’t define limits—it shows a different way of seeing the world. A world that’s unique, honest, and incredibly powerful. My son has taught me patience, resilience, and a kind of love that is fierce and unwavering. Proud of you Buddy Keep Smashing life.

I’m doing this walk because awareness matters. Understanding matters. Support matters. No family should feel alone in this journey. Every step we take today is for acceptance, for inclusion, and for a future where kids like my son are not just supported—but celebrated for exactly who they are.

So today, I walk for him.
I walk for every parent who’s fighting quietly.
I walk for every child who deserves to be understood.

And I walk with hope that together, we can make a difference. People with Autism are people too !
