Why I’m Walking for Autism 💜

This year, I’m taking part in the Walk for Autism once again — walking 7k steps each day in May to raise funds for Autism Spectrum Australia, one of Australia’s leading autism service providers and research organisations.

My reason is deeply personal.

Both of my children are on the autism spectrum.
My youngest son was diagnosed at 19, and like many autistic young adults, he is navigating his own path toward independence and finding what works for him.

My eldest son was diagnosed at 23 and experiences a different set of challenges. He continues to engage in activities that help him build confidence, develop skills, and stay connected to the world around him.

Supporting both of my sons has opened my eyes to the importance of understanding, acceptance, and access to the right support at the right time. Every autistic person’s experience is different, and having that understanding can make a life-changing difference.

Last year, I raised over $650 through this event, and this year I would love to smash that goal and reach $1000.

That’s why I’m walking.

Funds raised help organisations like Aspect continue their work in providing essential services and advancing autism research — supporting individuals and families at every stage of life.
