I’m walking 7k steps a day this May to support Autistic Australians

I’ve decided to step up and take part in Walk for Autism this is my second year doing this and it’s something that means so much to me.

This May, I’ll be doing my best to walk 7,000 steps every single day to support Autistic Australians and their families. Walking not just for awareness, but for understanding, inclusion, and real change within our communities.

The truth is, the world isn’t always built with autism in mind and because of that, around 70% of Autistic people in Australia experience mental health challenges and that number absolutely breaks my heart. They deserve so much more!

That statistic alone is why this matters so deeply but also as someone who has someone I love on the spectrum it’s taught me that not everyone is knowledgeable, aware or kind to those who are diagnosed.

I’m fundraising for Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia), an organisation that provides vital support, from early diagnosis and specialised education, to research and creating more inclusive, autism-friendly spaces. Which is just awesome!

Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps make a real difference in the lives of Autistic individuals and their families.

If you’re able to support me on this journey, I would be so grateful and extremely appreciative.🤍

Thank you for standing with me, and for helping create a world that understands and includes everyone. I think they deserve just that.

Love, Sharihan El-Hassan
