7k steps a day this May to support Autistic Australians
I’ve stepped up to Walk for Autism. Please show your support as I walk my own brilliant way for Autistic Australians and their families!
As a mother to an autistic son, I wanted to do something to show my support.
Matthew was non verbal until he was 3 years old and as a parent I worried he would not meet any milestones due to lack of speech.
Matthew was diagnosed last year in July, when he had just turned 6, it was a long drawn out process but thankfully we had so much love, support and help from family, friends and schooling.
Matthew continues to thrive in mainstream schooling and thanks to inclusion he gets to be included in so many activities through the school.
Matthew attends regular therapies fortnightly which continue to strengthen and help him grow.
As a mother it has had its challenges but I would do anything to watch my child thrive in day to day activities and will continue to push to help and keep him thriving in life.
This is my why for walking 7k steps a day in May to fundraise for Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia) so please support, little or big anything helps!
Funds raised can help Autistic people and their families access earlier diagnosis, provide autism-specific schooling for children on the autism spectrum, support research and help create inclusive, autism friendly environments.
Thanks heaps,
Elaine x
