My Reason
This May, I’m taking part in the Walk for Autism. I’m walking for my niece and my sister, who were both diagnosed with autism in 2025. In the same year, I received my own diagnosis too.
It’s been a big year for our family, one that’s deepened our understanding of how uniquely each of us experiences the world.
As an Occupational Therapist, I am also privileged to work with children and adults with autism nearly every day. Every individual has unique needs, levels of support, strengths, and superpowers to share with the world. While every experience of autism looks different, each one highlights how important access to understanding, diagnosis, and meaningful support truly is.
I’m also walking for the 70% of autistic people who experience mental health challenges, and for a world that is more inclusive, understanding, and accepting. I see the strengths, perspectives, and individuality that autistic people bring to the world every day, and I hope they are able to see it in themselves, that others can see it in them, and that everyone is truly celebrated for who they are.
Funds raised will go a long way to help create autism-inclusive environments and deliver services that support Autistic people to thrive. My hope is for diagnosis and services to become more accessible for all individuals and families who need them.
Thank you for being part of this cause.
